How does it work?

Your phone briefly creates an NFC field (13.56 MHz). The case’s tiny antenna harvests that energy (no battery) while a micro-controller receives a compressed black-and-white image over NFC. It then drives the e-ink panel to rearrange pigment particles and draw the picture. Power is used only during the 2–5 second refresh; once set, the e-ink is bistable, so the image stays with zero power until you change it.
